Chronopost Macbook pro scam
January 25, 2010 - Gyuri van de BiltBe aware that buying a new Macbook pro for 450 EUR is simply impossible. It will be a scam (or at best a dead machine).
After finding such an ad on Marktplaats.nl I just had to check it out. The response is clear, they fake they are using a trusted third party, but obviously you will never see the money nor a macbook if you try to do business with these people…

I will explain step by step how this will work.
A. First you have to send me your shipping information (your name and address).
1. After receiving your shipping information, go to a delivery company Chronopost location and leave the product in your name and address as the receiver.
2. Chronopost check the product also the legal papers to see that all is well with him.
B. You will receive a notification of Chronopost as a confirmation that the product is in its custody, and also that the product has been tested.
1.Chronopost verify the transfer of money, and if everything is in order, will deliver the product to your door.
2. After you receive the product and you will be completely satisfied with it, Chronopost to give instructions to release the payment information to me so I can collect my money.
C. If for any reason, you will not be satisfied with the product, you will return to the product without charge Chronopost.
I will pay for shipping and the amount of transfer!!

they also tried to scam me, pretending he is a student staying in London now and sell the computer to finance his studies. I keeped insisting to recieve a copy of the invoice to proof he realy bought the computer before, i did not get any confirmation anymore, i also poposed by myself to meet him in London Pancreas station to hand over the delivery, but no reaction came anymore

I just received the same message as the above post today and from the same person. I knew it was a scam as soon as I was told that He/She was in UK.
I justreceive the same message. I said him i have a friend who live in london so they can give me his phone number.
I wait for a reponse.

I was a bit surprised, because he has advertised on Kapaza.be, supposed to be stationed in Antwerp, with a Belgian phone number! His name was indeed Aurélien in the ad!

Exactly the same to me. And I lost 1000€, and waited for weeks for a MacBookPro that never is gonna come. Be aware of that people, I don’t deserve this to anybody!!!

beware - if it seems like too good of a deal to be true, it probably is!
Damn. I was just about to fall for it!!! It seemed to good to be true! Only reason i didnt fall for it was because i decided to research what chronopost was and came across this link. God i was about to lose $1000. Here was my version of the emai. They switched it up a bit:
“Hi, you`re about to get your self a very good deal cause I still have it for sale. the price is 1000 $ including all taxes.
Still has 11 months warranty and the package includes all original packaging and accessories.
I`m in London right now and I need to sell it cause I need money to lend a flat.. If you are sure you want it I can
send it to you using a shipping company that will take care of everything, from shipping to payment, so I don`t
need to get worried about the money.
